Everton VS Brighton | Preview

After a performance that lacked a finishing edge, VS Palace, not much change is needed, many would catorgorise Everton's performance vs Palace as a 'unlucky day at the office', many fantastic saves from Guita were enough to keep Palace in the game all square.

Despite not picking up as many points as they'd have liked in the past 6 games, at times, Brighton have looked an incredibly strong sides, picking up 4 points to Liverpool in 4 games, and grabbing 3 points vs Spurs.

Earlier this season, Everton put 4 past Brighton in a 4-2 win, James Rodriguez being the star after bagging his first PL brace, Neal Maupay pounced on Pickford's mistake towards the end of the first half to put Brighton level, and Bissouma's incredible consilation goal at the death weren't enough for a point for Brighton.

Everton's away form this season has been surprisingly good, which is a massive factor of confidence going into this game.

What would Denzel Dumfries bring to Everton?

Dumfries is a 25 year old right back, who currently plays his football for PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch league, has had interest from director of football Marcel Brands. Everton are still searching for a new manager, yet the Dutchman is continually linked. Names such as Nuno Espirito Santo and Eddie Howe have been thrown around, as have Christophe Galtier, however, whoever the new manager is needs to add a right back. Should Galtier arrive from Lille, the Zeki Celik links would once again arise as they did in January of 2020 and 2021. Dumfries is a raw, attacking fullback, similar to Seamus Coleman. He would add a different option to Everton’s defence and would be a substantial upgrade on the Irishman. Dumfries’ versatility is also needed to be taken into consideration. He has played as a right back, left back, central defender and even as a winger for PSV, this is the type of player that we need and should be trying to sign.

Ancelotti on Aston Villa draw

I thought we came out the blocks really slowly. Struggled to get a foot on the ball, but partly of that is Carlo’s tactics from not wanting to have the same start we had a Goodison Park. The first 30 half an hour was slow and we were struggling to string two passes together.  Tyrone Mings should have scored from close range. After the half hour mark Everton began to get their foot on the ball and keep possession much better. A few half chances along the way.  But coming out for the second half we were excellent and it was obvious that Carlo had got into them at half time. We were commiting more bodies forward and creating more chances.
