Richarlison: Rise of a Star

Richarlison: Rise of a Star

Born in Nova Venécia, State of Esperito Santo, in Brazil, it was clear Richarlison had a passion for football at a young age.

He grew up surrounded by gang and violence, despite all of his friends selling drugs, Richarlison sold chocolate and ice cream.

His place of birth is known for bringing up talented ‘ballers, Richarlison said in an interview it was always his dream to play in the Premier League, he used to watch it on his Uncle’s TV.

At the age of 14, Richarlison’s live could’ve been ended in an instant, he was mistaken for a drug lord and was confronted by a drug dealer, had a gun pointed to his nose, the drug dealer said: “If I see you again, I will shoot you with no problem”

2 years later, a very unexpected miracle happened, Renato Velasco spotted the young Brazilian winger and took him to America Miniero and later, to Fluminese, a team in Brazil’s top tier.

Former Watford and Everton manager Marco Silva had rang Richarlison and convinced him to come to Watford, despite not playing for the Brazil national team, he managed to get a work permit, a fellow Brazilian was besides him at all times, Arsenal’s winger, Willian, who helped Richarlison a lot.

After Marco Silva’s sacking at Watford, he was later appointed Everton manager, who decided to take Richarlison with him, costing Everton around £50M.

Having scored twice on his Everton debut, the toffees fans instantly fell in love with him, his passion is obvious, lives and breathes Everton Football Club, exactly what us fans want.

Hopefully this is just the beginning of a wonderful career.
