Post match thoughts: Everton 1-0 Southampton.

The blues win their first home game in the premier league in 2021 at the expense of Southampton. An early goal from in form Richarlison settled the blues nerves, and they had the ball in the net for a second time after Michael Keane scored a header. Keane was adjudged to be offside, the correct decision, and following a VAR review the game was still at 1-0 in the toffees favour. From that point onwards, Southampton were the better side and looked like the team who would score next. Good defending and a world class save from Jordan Pickford meant that Everton took all 3 points. This result means that if Everton beat West Brom and Aston Villa, they will move into the top 4 of the premier league. After points being dropped in the past in games where we should win, nothing is set in stone. But the blues are playing well under Ancelotti, let’s hope this fine form may continue now.
